Joy Rasmussen, a native of Los Angeles, has been fulfilling people’s dreams of building a life in a ski destination for the last 7 years as a broker/owner of Colorado Group Realty in Steamboat Springs.  

Her background is varied and diverse; graduating from San Diego State University, she accepted an internship at a resort hotel in Park City, Utah and spent 6 years learning about destination ski resorts.  Her love of travel led her to a 20-year career in the resort hotel and cruise industry, culminating with world cruises and leading sales teams to multi-million dollar sales launches for 4 luxury 6-star vessels.  

She came to Steamboat in 2002 to be with her now husband and real estate investor, Ken Otterman. 

A member of Who’s Who in Luxury Real Estate, she is accredited with the distinction, Graduate, Realtor Institute and is a certified EcoBroker.  Her professional affiliations include membership in the Steamboat Springs Board of RealtorsColorado Association of  Realtors, and National Association of Realtors. Her expertise lies in assisting Buyers and Sellers in all types of investment properties, and she has represented Steamboat developers for 4 multi-million dollar residential and commercial projects in the sales and marketing of new construction launches.  

Her current listing portfolio includes Steamboat’s first eco-friendly development, EcoCorral,, an all-green 28 townhome development that sits gazing over Mt. Werner, Steamboat’s grand ski resort. 

In her spare time, Joy’s passion is triathlon, having been President of USA Triathlon, Rocky Mountain Region and as a competitor, she has competed in over 40 triathlons, culminating in last year’s Ironman World Championships in Kona, Hawaii.  Aside from finding the perfect property for her clients, she’s a certified Triathlon Coach, helping new athletes find their passions in swimming, biking or running throughout the mountains, streams, lakes and valleys of Steamboat at any time.
